On the 1st of June Siemens Wind Power started using a new area of 25,000 m2 at the Port of Aalborg for storing of wind turbine wings. The area is very visible at the entrance to the east harbor. The new storage area replaces a former storage area of the same size which the Port of Aalborg is going to use for other projects.

At the same time two new areas with a total of 100,000 m2 for wing storage is being planned. One area is close to the wing factory and is 40,000 m2 and has “the wing road” as a direct connection between the wing factory and the port.
The other area is nearer the bulk terminal and is surrounded by Landdybet, Langerak and Vulkanvej. Access is available from the already established areas at Landdybet. From the storage area there is access to the quay, so that shipping can happen without the wings being transported along the ports own internal roads.
The work with establishing the new storage areas for Siemens Wind Power have the Port of Aalborg as developer with Rambøll as consulting engineers.
